Pamukkale / Hierapolis
For the Pamukkale tour you will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning. From Izmir area it is 3.5 hours driving to Pamukkale. You will stop on the way for a coffee break. By the time you arrive to Pamukkale you will start to the tour.
Pamukkale, which is “Cotton Castle” in Turkish is a very special place where history meets with natural beauty. Naturally area has permeable soil and underground hot spring water runs close to the surface. Only in Pamukkale museum part there are 17 points where water comes to the earth. Today Pamukkale Museum is one of the most popular museums but actually this tourism movement runs here for many centuries and started with discovery of ancient people, they discovered curative properties of this hot spring water here. From 500 B.C. people visited Pamukkale to cure their disease, and from 300 D.C. they founded a city that they called Holly City ‘Hierapolis’. Today ruins of the ancient city lies by the limestone terraces formed by the action of the hot springs. During your visit you can see beautiful ancient theater of the city, great hammam building which is converted to a museum, main street of the ancient city, necropolis(cemetery), Cleopatra Pool (entrance extra), theater and spend time in limestone terraces.
You will also have lunch which is included. After the tour you will drive back to hotel.
